Measuring 114.6 square kilometers, Fengcheng friendly living area covers the region east to Hulu (Shanghai-Luchao Port) Expressway-Liufeng Highway-Wahong Road, north to Dazhi Stream, west to Hangtang Port-S3 Hufeng (Shanghai-Fengxian) Expressway, and south to Lianggang Avenue.

Fengcheng friendly living area plans to create two functional areas - Fengcheng industrial area and an ancient town living area, as well as Touqiao community. Fengcheng industrial area has been gradually transformed and upgraded to form an industrial community dominated by advanced manufacturing and producer service industries with a small number of residential areas. Based on the unique historic features of Fengcheng, the ancient town living area will improve public services and the spatial environment to create a Fengcheng center with vitality and a name card of a water village in Shanghai ancient town. Fengcheng will also improve the road system for external connections, strengthen the efficiency of connections with expressways and highways, and moderately increase the density of branch road networks. In addition, it will highlight the protection of historic features in water villages and ancient towns, innovate the "public transport + walking/bicycle" mode of green commuting, and flexibly create "car-free blocks". It will use country parks to anchor the ecological spatial framework, retain original villages mainly in Fengcheng town and in the north of Touqiao, and protect Fengcheng Fenshuidun village. Besides, farmers will be given priority in resettling in cities.
