A Lantern Festival celebration was held at Turing Square in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area on Feb 28, bringing to life the area's vision of "Young City for the Youth" and its people-centered motto of "Lin-gang, your innovation partner".

The event, featuring China-chic markets, original audiovisual performances, and a spectacular fireworks display, attracted about 2,000 residents and visitors.

The celebration kicked off with ten original compositions that blended traditional Chinese instruments with electronic synthesizers. A youth choir made up of frontline workers from sectors such as construction and hospitality delivered a heartfelt performance reflecting the spirit of the area's builders.

One of the highlights was an energetic dual-drum performance, where a traditional Chinese war drum and a Western drum kit came together in an improvised showcase that brought the show to a lively climax.

The evening ended with a theme song inspired by everyday life in Lin-gang, offering a warm tribute to the people who live and work in the area and reflecting the city's supportive environment for talent and entrepreneurship. After the celebration, a light-and-fireworks show illuminated the sky over Dishui Lake, creating a romantic scene along the waterfront.
