The 2025 Tour of Shanghai cycling race is set to take place from Sept 5 to 7, with 120 riders competing.

Launched in 2024, the race has now been upgraded to UCI status, drawing 20 professional teams from 10 countries and regions. International contenders include Italy's TFT, Belgium's WB2, and the United States' TNN, while the domestic field boasts nine continental teams, among them Asia's 5th-ranked LNS and 6th-ranked CAT.

The race will wind through Jiading, Songjiang, Qingpu, Fengxian, and Nanhui new cities:

- The Jiading stage on Sept 5 covers 95.3 kilometers, featuring landmarks like the Shanghai International Circuit and Poly Grand Theatre

- The following day, the 94.8-km Songjiang-Qingpu stage will take riders past attractions like Shanghai Happy Valley and Sheshan National Forest Park.

- The final stage on Sept 7 spans 94.5 km from Fengxian to Nanhui, with scenic views of Jinhai and Dishui lakes.

Beyond the thrilling races, the event will offer a rich array of cultural and tourism activities. From Sept 6 to 7, a carnival at Dishui Lake in the Lin-gang Special Area promises diverse entertainment and shopping options for participants and spectators alike. The carnival will include photo spots and a virtual cycling experience area, encouraging interaction between riders, industry experts, and fans.

In addition to professional competitions, the event also invites cycling enthusiasts to participate in amateur races across the five locations. Registration details for these races are as follows:

1. Jiading New City individual time trial

Time: Sept 5

Registration opens at noon on Aug 12 via the Jiushi Sports app or WeChat and Alipay mini programs.

2. Songjiang New City challenge race

Time: Sept 6

Registration opens at noon on Aug 12 via the Jiushi Sports app or WeChat and Alipay mini programs.

3. Qingpu New City parent-child cycling race

Time: Sept 6

Registration opens on Aug 16 via the "V Qingpu Sports (V青浦体育)" WeChat account

4. Fengxian New City cycling carnival

Time & registration: Details on the "Shanghai Fengxian (上海奉贤)" and "Fengxian Sports (奉贤体育)" WeChat accounts.

5. Nanhui New City

(1) Lin-gang open race

Time: Sept 7

Registration opens at noon on Aug 12 via the Jiushi Sports app or WeChat and Alipay mini programs.

(2) Children's balance bike racing challenge

Time: Sept 6-7
