The green light was given on Dec 15 for construction of the Fudan University-affiliated Pudong Hospital's Lin-gang branch – with groundbreaking set for 2023.

The new hospital, set to be completed in 2025, will be located in the advanced intelligent manufacturing area of the Lin-gang Special Area - in East China's Shanghai city.

The facility is expected to become an important engine for bolstering the development of the Nanhui new town.

Pudong Hospital's Lin-gang branch will undertake the important task of being a regional medical center. Moreover, it will join hands with Fudan University and strive to become a high-quality, high-safety international and research-oriented medical center.

The construction standard of the new hospital is that of a Shanghai tertiary general hospital, with 700 beds planned and a construction area of about 169,788 square meters.

Of that, the total floor space above ground will be 110,500 sq m and the underground floor space will total 59,288 sq m.

Pudong Hospital's Lin-gang branch will focus on disciplines including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, tumors, facial features and emergency traumas.

It will build functional platforms – for such things as clinical diagnosis and treatment, teaching and training, health examinations and clinical research – so as to meet the health needs of the people in the area and drive development forwards of the biomedical industry.
