Shanghai Dianji University (SDJU) is a polytechnic university focusing on engineering as well as other disciplines such as economics, management and liberal arts.

It has two campuses at Lingang and Minhang, a total area of 76.47 hectares, 1,087 faculty members, and 12,800 students.

The university aims to educate students for the advanced manufacturing and modern services industries, with an emphasis on practice and skills.

It is a demonstration university in Shanghai for deepening reform of innovation and entrepreneurship bases and has established training and R&D bases for university-enterprise cooperation and international technology exchange in the equipment manufacturing field.

It has 38 undergraduate programs, focusing on electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and material science.

Among its 824 full-time teachers, about 40 percent have doctoral degrees, and about 35 percent have work experience in related industries.

The university has more than 200 international students from 27 countries. It offers more than 30 international courses and three English-language programs, including one Shanghai demonstration English-language program.

It has set up cooperative relationships with more than 30 universities in 16 countries and regions and conducted credit exchange programs with more than 20 overseas universities.

The university library has a collection of 1.35 million books and 0.8 million e-books, and the university's teaching and scientific research equipment are valued at 340 million yuan ($48.14 million).
