Founded in 1951, Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP) is a comprehensive school with a focus on engineering while covering disciplines in science, management, economics and the humanities.
The university offers 32 undergraduate programs and has around 1,000 faculty numbers and around 12,000 students.
Featuring energy and electricity research, the university gained support from the municipal government to develop three key majors: clean and safe power generation, smart grid and smart energy management.
The university is equipped with 11 scientific research platforms above ministerial and provincial levels, a national-level engineering education center and a college student innovation base.
It has participated in more than 500 high-level scientific research projects and talent cultivation projects and won 58 science and technology awards above ministerial and provincial levels, three of which were at national level.
The university emphasizes international cooperation and exchanges, and is connected with many universities abroad. It has nearly 100 long-term international students and also invites foreign scholars to teach or to do research there.
Based on agreements with its overseas partners, the university cooperates with them on jointly training students and is involved in many exchange programs.
According to its development plan, the university will strive to build a high-level applied research university with distinctive characteristics in the energy and power programs by 2025.
