Shanghai Ocean University

Established in 1912 as the Jiangsu Provincial Fisheries School, Shanghai Ocean University is a multi-disciplinary applied research-oriented institution of higher education with courses in agriculture, the sciences, engineering, economics, management, and the arts.
It was jointly built by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the State Oceanic Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and was included in a national education program for building universities with world-class disciplines in 2017 for its first-class fishery programs.
Located in the Lin-gang Special Area, the university has major research centers such as the China Ocean Fishery Data Center and Marine Science Supercomputing Center as well as a library with a collection of more than 1.5 million resources.
The university offers 47 undergraduate programs and 10 higher vocational programs and has achieved many significant research results in the fields of aquaculture, marine fisheries, marine resources, aquatic products processing, food safety, low-temperature logistics of agricultural products and fishery economic management.
The university had around 12,000 undergraduate students, 3,600 postgraduates and 802 international students in 2019 from 83 countries and regions. It has around 1,200 faculty members including more than 800 teaching and research staff.
The university also has close relations with universities and international organizations around the world, and has conducted a number of academic visits and exchange programs for students.
