The Lin-gang Special Area Administration signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Dianji University at a meeting held at the latter's Lin-gang campus on Oct 6.

According to the agreement, the administration will help the university set up a special fund, which will be used to build industry, education and research platforms to drive business and cultivate talents.

Intelligent manufacturing, integrated circuits, and aerospace will be given priority in the platform construction campaign.

Public service platforms such as an analysis and testing center of the Shanghai Dianji University, and the Lin-gang branch of Shanghai Open University, which is aimed at inviting and cultivating high-end industrial professionals, will be set up.

In addition, the administration will develop a mechanism to support the university's innovative endeavors, launch a demonstration project for industry-education integration, and build a high-level research platform and institute.

Support will also be provided to the university's joint education programs with foreign partners, as well as its technological innovation efforts in fields such as application software, integrated circuits, aviation, new motors, and energy equipment.

To cultivate more talents to boost regional economic growth, Shanghai is currently striving to improve its higher education by enhancing the universities' unique strengths and characteristics.

As one of the first universities located in Lin-gang, Shanghai Dianji University has been a cradle for specialist jobs. Over 10 percent of its graduates choose to work in Lin-gang.
