Tongji University and the Lin-gang Special Area Administration – both located in East China's Shanghai – signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on Feb 10 to boost the upgrading of smart cities in the region.

Under the agreement, the two will focus on smart cities, smart transportation, artificial intelligence, marine science and technology, intelligent construction, low carbon industry and other fields.

Their efforts will cover all levels – from regional top-level development planning to specific applications and scenarios – to achieve all-round cooperation in scientific research, industry, education and talent.

They also inked agreements on a top-level design and consulting service for the Lin-gang Special Area smart city and an agreement on a planning and consulting service for smart transportation.
