The Pudong Plain is a relatively young area geologically – formed by the impact of the Yangtze River and the Qiantang River – and being close to the East China Sea, with sandy soil as the main soil. This is loose and fertile and there is a large temperature difference between day and night, with a PH value of 7-7.5.
Nanhui new town – located in the Lin-gang Special Area of Shanghai in East China – lies on the plain. With the Pudong Plain's unique conditions for soil, water and climate, the Cuiguan pear grown in Nanhui has become one of the most celebrated of the area's pears.
