It is grape harvest season in Shuyuan town in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area.

In the town's grape base, plump Shine Muscat grapes hang on the branches. These grapes used to be hundreds of yuan per kilogram, but prices have become more affordable thanks to the large-scale planting.

Although the grapes became more affordable, some customers think the grapes are not as sweet as before. Chen Libin, the head of the base, unveiled the cause of misunderstanding, "Shine Muscat grapes taste best at 17 degrees of sweetness, but some fruit farmers get too anxious that they pick grapes at 12 to 14 degrees. As a result, the quality deteriorates, and it also creates a misunderstanding among consumers that Shine Muscat grapes are no longer tasty."

Shuyuan town's soil is alkaline, which is suitable for grape cultivation. In addition, this place does not flood easily. These are the two basic conditions of grape cultivation. What's more, Chen Libin also created a half-root domain restriction planting system that is based on high ridge ecological cultivation techniques. This technology ensures that the root system has enough space to grow, while also allowing the roots to supply more nutrients to the branches, leaves and fruits within a limited scope.
