Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area has prepared a diverse range of activities for the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, giving locals and visitors plenty to see, do, and enjoy during the weeklong break.

From tonight through Oct 7, the 3rd Shanghai International Light Festival will bring Lin-gang to life after dark, with spectacular light shows illuminating waterfront buildings around Dishui Lake, Xinggang City, Ring of Glory, and the China Railway Construction Corporation building.

For more nocturnal fun, fireworks will add another burst of color over Dishui Lake Square at 8 pm on Oct 3. Two major night shows will enliven Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park during the holiday — one starring orcas and the other taking spectators into a fantastical world of mermaids. 

Music will drift through the cool night air at Dishui Lake Backstreet and Beidao No 4 Art Museum on Oct 3, and at Dishui Lake Pier No 1 from Oct 1 to 7. Meanwhile, outdoor and nature lovers can head to Mobius Park on Oct 1 and 2 for market fairs, parent-child games, a pet sports meet, live music, and open-air movie screenings.
