The Lin-gang Special Area in Shanghai hosted a "One Person Company (OPC)" digital innovation event at the Dishui Lake Convention Center on Dec 18 as part of its efforts to build a new entrepreneurial ecosystem tailored for the digital age.

The Lin-gang Special Area introduced the C⁵ concept for the first time to support OPC communities, a new form of entrepreneurship centered on individuals who use digital technology to carry out high-value innovation. The framework, outlined in Lin-gang's action plan to promote OPC development, centers on the five dimensions of "Connect, Cost, Chance, Convenience, Community" to support entrepreneurs.

Under the C⁵ framework, Lin-gang will build a full-cycle empowerment system for OPCs, offering a supportive package that includes public operations, digital empowerment, finance and insurance, and business promotion and training.

During the event, the Lin-gang Special Area OPC⁵ Development Alliance was officially launched to break down traditional innovation barriers and build a high-level ecosystem integrating government, industry, academia, research, finance, services, and applications.

The first OPC Community was also inaugurated at the event, featuring a 100,000-square-meter complex that integrates office, residential and commercial facilities. With an 85 percent occupancy rate, it has already hosted nearly 500 entrepreneurs.

Additionally, the Global OPC Digital Innovation Competition was launched to discover and nurture talent in data innovation. The competition features five key tracks and provides resources and policies to support young innovators.
