As a flagship project co-developed by China and Peru under the Belt and Road Initiative, the Chancay-Shanghai shipping route creates an "ocean expressway" for CIIE exhibits. The shipment reached Shanghai in just 23 days, at least 10 days faster than traditional routes. Featuring South American handicrafts such as ceramics and alpaca wool products, many of the exhibits will make a debut at the expo, offering Chinese consumers more choices.
Since its opening nearly a year ago, Chancay Port has become a key gateway for trade between China and Peru. It facilitates the exports of Chinese home appliances, automobiles, machinery, and other products to South America, while bringing Peruvian blueberries, avocados, and other agricultural specialties to the Chinese and Asian markets.
Yangshan Port is entering its busiest period for incoming CIIE exhibits, a wave expected to continue into early November. An official from the Yangshan Port immigration inspection station stated that for vessels carrying CIIE exhibits, immigration authorities will proactively coordinate with shipping companies and agents to complete pre-arrival inspections while the ships are en route. After docking, priority border clearance will be granted to both the vessels and their crews, significantly expediting the inspection process.
To ensure a smooth entry-exit process, the Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection has rolled out eight measures, including faster clearance and top-notch services.
