US electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has begun mass production of the revamped version of its Model Y at its Shangahi Gigafactory in the Lin-gang Special Area, according to a statement released on the company's official Weibo account on Feb 18.

The new version of the popular electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) is expected to be delivered to customers starting late February 2025.

The initial release of the refreshed Model Y, available for a limited time until Feb 28, is priced at 263,500 yuan ($36,169.85) for the rear-wheel drive version and 303,500 yuan for the long-range all-wheel drive version.

The vehicle was initially unveiled on Tesla's Chinese website on Jan 10, with an estimated delivery date of March.

The updated Model Y boasts a new design, taking inspiration from the Cybertruck and Cybercab, and features a distinctive indirect reflective body panel taillight.

The refreshed interior includes upgraded comfort features, such as ventilated front seats, and improved noise reduction.

It boasts improved acceleration, achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 4.3 seconds.

The vehicle also offers enhanced driving range, with an estimated increase of over 30 kilometers due to multiple optimizations. The maximum estimated range under the CLTC (China light-duty vehicle test cycle) standard, is estimated at 719 kilometers.
