Global innovative medical technology leader Boston Scientific celebrated the opening of its first manufacturing base in China at the Lingang Life Science & Tech Park — located in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area — on Oct 15.

The facility in Lin-gang boasts cutting-edge laboratories, advanced production workshops, and warehouses equipped with cleanrooms adhering to both Chinese and international standards. Leveraging the latest technologies and experiences from Boston Scientific's factories worldwide, it aims to become a world-class smart factory.

Incorporating digital management and intelligent production systems, the base ensures comprehensive visibility, real-time monitoring, and traceability from raw materials to finished products. The factory mainly focuses on the manufacturing of medical consumables and equipment, reinforcing Boston Scientific's localized approach, which spans trade, production, research and development, investment, and service provision.

With the support of new policies enhancing review and approval efficiency, products manufactured at the factory can be fast-tracked for registration and market launch. This will aid in reducing delivery time to hospitals, thereby providing Chinese patients with access to innovative medical solutions previously sourced overseas.

Boston Scientific plans to further invest in China, and collaborate with local partners to deliver essential medical products to patients with high-incidence diseases.
