Lin-gang Special Area ready to shine at upcoming Shanghai Tourism Festival
The 35th Shanghai Tourism Festival will raise its curtains on Sept 14 and run until Oct 6, with 200 thematic tour activities and products to be launched, according to Zhong Xiaomin, director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, at a press conference on Sept 6.
Twenty-five performance teams and 25 colorful floats will gather at the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street to kick off this year's festival on the evening of Sept 14, featuring world-renowned culture and tourism offerings like Huangshan Mountain and Dunhuang, top international IPs such as Disney and LEGO, and artistic performance groups from 16 countries and regions including the United States, France and Italy.

The closing ceremony is set to take place in Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park in the Lin-gang Special Area and will include captivating performances such as firework shows, drone flights and light shows. Residents and visitors will be able to admire all the floats participating in this year's tourism festival alongside Dishui Lake.

Miao Ting, an official from the Lin-gang Special Area Administration, said at the press conference that the area has introduced three Citywalk routes, which connect iconic cultural and travel spots within the region such as the newly opened Shanghai L+ Snow Indoor Skiing Theme Resort and the popular Shanghai Astronomy Museum.
The area is projected to receive 10 million visitors in 2024 and 15 million in 2025, showcasing Lin-gang's potential to grow into a burgeoning tourist destination, said Miao.
