Li Shutong, commonly known by his Buddhist name Hong Yi, is the focus of two exhibitions at the museum, offering visitors a look at the life and artistic legacy of this painter, musician, and calligrapher. The first, running through Jan 23, 2027, traces his extraordinary life, while the second, open until Oct 23, 2027, showcases his calligraphy.
Another exhibition, Through the Sunlight, runs through Dec 23 and invites visitors into a poetic encounter between art and nature. Sculptor Yang Kepeng creates Abu, a clay child sitting quietly on a cloud, forever young. Plant artist Chen Tao, meanwhile, transforms greenery into a living forest that sprouts, blooms, and withers with time. Together, the works bring the stillness of sculpture into conversation with nature's ever-changing rhythms.
The museum also features a digital exhibition hall with a range of interactive installations. Panoramic visuals and motion sensors allow digital creatures to follow visitors' movements, while hand-drawn animals can leap onto screens and accompany their creators.
Weekends at the museum are even livelier, with a series of art education programs. The special masterclasses, inspired by ongoing exhibitions, invite participants to explore the artworks and try their hand at creating their own.
