The first batch of exhibits for the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) arrived at Shanghai's Yangshan Deep-Water Port on Oct 12, with onward transportation to the expo venue beginning the following day.

The exhibits are from WFL Millturn Technologies, an Austrian machine tool maker participating in the CIIE for the first time this year. One highlight is a mill-turn machining center set to make its Asian debut. 

Departing from Linz, Austria, these exhibits traveled aboard the Chinese Hong Kong-flagged Oriental Sweden and arrived in Shanghai after about a month at sea.

As a major entry point for CIIE exhibits, Yangshan Port has developed a well-established mechanism for customs clearance under the coordination of public security, border inspection, and customs authorities, as well as the port operator.

More exhibits are expected to arrive in the city in the coming days for the upcoming expo, which will take place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from Nov 5 to 10.
