Shanghai's Nangang Terminal handled about 23,000 vehicles from Oct 1 to 7, including 21,600 destined for overseas markets, as the major automotive import and export hub remained busy throughout the National Day holiday.

Notably, the arrival of a Bahamas-flagged roll-on/roll-off vessel brought the terminal's operations to a peak. A total of 4,332 Shanghai-made Tesla Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles were loaded onto the ship for export to Europe and South America.

In response, the Yangshan Immigration Inspection Station implemented a 24/7 duty schedule to keep vehicle shipments moving smoothly.

Shanghai Port currently operates 12 international roll-on/roll-off shipping routes for automobiles, connecting 295 ports in 135 countries and regions worldwide. From January to September, Yangshan Customs oversaw exports of nearly 650,000 vehicles, up 60.6 percent year-on-year.
