Lin-gang advances opening-up in value-added telecom sector
Three new enterprises in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area recently received approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to operate as internet content providers, marking another step forward in the area's pilot program to expand China's opening-up in value-added telecom services.
With the approval, Rokid will provide internet information services and platform operations related to smart glasses; TableCheck will use Lin-gang as a strategic base for expanding its restaurant digitalization business in China; and IntelliMark AI International will develop a trusted cross-border e-commerce platform for digital trade.
To date, 13 enterprises in Lin-gang have received approval under the pilot program. They cover nearly the full spectrum of value-added telecom services, including fintech, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, digital shipping and trade, sports and wellness, intelligent connected vehicles, smart glasses, smart dining, and digital culture.

The rapid expansion of the pilot program is underpinned by Lin-gang's comprehensive support mechanism. The area has set up a special task force and worked closely with the Lin-gang Office of the Shanghai Communications Administration to establish an innovative "1+1+N" service model. The model features one value-added telecommunications pilot service center, one supporting regulatory system, and multiple service areas.
