China Eastern Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Co Ltd was inaugurated in the Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone on Sept 2, along with Asia's largest wide-body aircraft maintenance hangar.

The hangar covers an area of approximately 46,000 square meters. It can perform maintenance on up to nine wide-body aircraft and two narrow-body aircraft simultaneously.

Connected to Pudong International Airport's main aircraft movement area and terminals via an extended taxiway from Runway No 5, the facility will provide efficient maintenance services for global aircraft flying into Shanghai.

Looking ahead, China Eastern Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering will further expand its capability to serve international third-party customers, with 10 wide-body aircraft maintenance lines, two narrow-body aircraft maintenance lines, and one dedicated paint line to be in place by 2030.

The hangar will complement the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China's final assembly base and delivery center, attracting upstream and downstream aviation enterprises and further enhancing Shanghai's global influence in the sector.
