Boston Scientific's new-generation FARASTAR pulsed field ablation generator recently received approval from the National Medical Products Administration, marking the fastest authorization among the company's localized manufacturing projects in China.

The review process was completed about 1.5 months faster than the average time for similar projects. June Chang, president of Boston Scientific in Greater China, noted this would not have been possible without the professional guidance and efficient review provided by China's drug regulatory authorities. 

It reflects the country's open environment for fostering medical innovation and accelerating patient access to cutting-edge technologies from around the world, she added.

The pulsed field ablation generator will be produced at the factory in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area. As Boston Scientific's first manufacturing base in China, the facility is built to the company's global quality standards and backed by Shanghai's well-established biopharmaceutical and high-end medical device ecosystem.

The company has quickly brought multiple products into production since it began operations in October 2024. It will gradually evolve from serving the Chinese market to supplying customers worldwide.
