To celebrate its 5th anniversary, the Shanghai Astronomy Museum in the Lin-gang Special Area has launched a summer astronomy carnival featuring more than 20 activities.

The exhibition Stellar Whispers of Heaven and Earth: Astronomy in Chinese Poetry is underway at the Temporary Exhibition Hall on B1 and will run until Jan 17, 2027. It unfolds through three chapters — the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars — and uses immersive MR experiences to present the wonders of the cosmos and the cultural connotations behind classic Chinese poems.

During the carnival, the new interactive dome show Loong in the Night Sky invites visitors to become "dragon seekers". With a mysterious letter and special props, they embark on a quest to awaken the sleeping dragon and bring harmony back to the stars.

The 15-minute star concert named "Pulsar" brings audiences closer to a distant celestial world through scientific storytelling, original symphonic music, telescope imagery, and astronomical data visualization, all presented under a 23-meter-diameter dome and enhanced by immersive surround sound.
