Lin-gang leans into OPC boom

As AI technology continues to evolve, one-person companies are gaining momentum as a new force in innovation and entrepreneurship.

In support of this emerging business model, Lin-gang Special Area released a series of measures at a policy briefing on May 25 to address key challenges faced by OPCs in business registration, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property protection.

A major highlight is the lowering of market entry barriers. Lin-gang will become the first area in Shanghai to introduce "micro-address registration", allowing open-plan work spaces and shared office areas to be used for business registration.

This has helped address a key constraint in conventional business registration, which typically requires companies to have a fixed business address. Yet many AI entrepreneurs are accustomed to working in shared workspaces or even cafes, where they write code and design products.

Beyond that, the Lin-gang market regulatory authority has partnered with local IP protection center and professional service platforms to provide consultations, risk alerts and dispute mediation. A dedicated hotline (021-10100820) is also available for local entrepreneurs and those planning to establish OPCs in the area.

A batch of new OPC communities, including Dishuichenghu, Venture Valley, and Dishui Lake Financial Bay, unveiled plaques the same day, injecting strong impetus into the local scientific innovation ecosystem.
