Cross-cultural event in Lin-gang bridges cultures and people
A cross-cultural exchange event was held at Shanghai Dianji University in Lin-gang Special Area on April 17, bringing together nearly 200 Chinese and international students and teachers.
Jointly organized by the Lin-gang and Baoshan branches of the Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association, along with five universities in Lin-gang, the event aimed to promote cultural exchange through immersive participation.
On campus, participants performed the Chinese folk classic Jasmine Flower, blended Peking Opera recitative with Western bel canto, and wrote calligraphy to wish for peace and happiness. Eight themed experiential zones transformed traditional etiquette, traditional crafts, and seasonal culture into interactive activities.
Among the participants, an international student from Comoros at Shanghai Dianji University stood out in hanfu, carrying a flower basket. He moved across campus, sharing flowers with students and teachers, noting how their beauty becomes even greater when shared with others.

Elsewhere, the pitch-pot area drew cheers and laughter. Each activity highlighted a facet of Chinese culture: etiquette in pitch-pot games, folk traditions in riddles, the beauty of Chinese calligraphy, and the poetic charm of spring floral hairpins.
At the event, Lin-gang and Baoshan worked with Shanghai Dianji University to break regional barriers and explore a new model of cross-district collaboration and university-driven cultural education.
