A Singaporean container vessel departed Yangshan Deep-Water Port in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area on Jan 10. During its 23-hour stay, the vessel handled 4,224 container units and took on more than 3,000 metric tons of green methanol fuel.

Ranked the world's most efficient container port for three consecutive years, Yangshan Port owes its high-performance operations to the tireless dedication of immigration officers.

In 2025, Yangshan Port achieved an average vessel turnaround time of just 23 hours. International vessel traffic has surpassed 10,000 calls for two consecutive years, with the Yangshan Border Inspection Station processing more than 10,500 international vessel calls last year — a 4.2 percent year-on-year increase.

To keep pace with growing business demands, the Yangshan Border Inspection Station continues to enhance its immigration management services. Border procedures are handled immediately, with real-time responses to clearance requirements, while vessel pre-inspections and administrative permits can be processed online.

Services include appointment-based, coordinated, and relay processing through internal and external collaboration, as well as on-site, time-limited, one-stop processing designed to reduce turnaround times.

Yangshan Port's container throughput surpassed 28 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2025. With the development of the northern area of Xiaoyangshan Island and the full operation of the new liquefied natural gas terminal line, the port's capacity is expected to continue growing.

Moving forward, the Yangshan Border Inspection Station will upgrade its intelligent border control system and support high-quality development in Lin-gang.
