Shanghai Carbonology Technology Co Ltd signed an agreement with the Lin-gang Special Area Administration and Lingang Technology Innovation Center on July 29. An R&D innovation center with an investment of 300 million yuan ($41.6 million) will be launched in Lin-gang, boosting the area's high-end manufacturing and new energy sectors.

Focusing on reducing emissions in the aviation industry, the project will pioneer sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production using carbon dioxide captured directly from the air. This breakthrough challenges traditional fossil fuel dependency in aviation, positioning Carbonology at the forefront of global green energy innovation.

The venture will establish an integrated platform focusing on R&D validation, engineering scale-up, and industrial output. As the world's first commercialization project converting atmospheric carbon dioxide into SAF, it aims to produce its inaugural demonstration batch by 2025.

Leveraging Lin-gang's advanced manufacturing ecosystem and policy support, along with professional incubation services from the Lingang Technology Innovation Center, Carbonology plans to extend its technological leadership to global markets.
