Yangshan Port, a crucial hub of international trade in Shanghai, has witnessed a strong start to the year. In January, Shanghai Port witnessed a record high in container throughput, exceeding 5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), with Yangshan Port accounting for over half of this number, at 2.53 million TEUs.

The volume of international shipping vessels entering and exiting Yangshan Port remained at a consistently high level throughout the month. According to Yangshan Border Inspection Station, they inspected over 910 international vessels during January, marking the highest number for the period since the port's inception.

During the Spring Festival holiday, which lasted from Jan 28 to Feb 4, Yangshan Port remained fully operational. As a key export hub for the Yangtze River Delta region, Yangshan Port's container operating enterprises strengthened efforts to streamline cross-port production systems, enhance the management of international transit containers, and optimize collaboration between the port area and logistics centers. This collective push resulted in a robust start to the new year.

On the customs clearance front, Yangshan Border Inspection Station maintained a round-the-clock presence during the holiday season. Building upon the digitalization of border inspection procedures, the station has strengthened cooperation with joint inspection units, agency companies, and terminal operators to accurately track vessel movements. Special attention was given to seamless vessel escort services during early morning hours and peak arrival/departure times, ensuring the smooth operation of the port around the clock.
