Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area is set to host the 2024 World Laureates Forum (WLF) from Oct 25 to 27, bringing together esteemed scientists from across the globe to engage in exchanges and discussions on topics ranging from basic research to cutting-edge technologies.

In a historic move, the forum will open its doors to the public, offering a unique opportunity for individuals to engage with Nobel Prize, Turing Award, and Wolf Prize laureates. They can pose questions and witness cutting-edge scientific breakthroughs firsthand. Those interested in attending can secure their spots by registering through the forum's official website at https://2024.wlaforum.com.

The forum's lineup includes three full-day sub-forums, each focusing on a distinct area of scientific exploration.

A notable highlight this year is the Materials Science Forum, co-chaired by the 2012 Albert Einstein World Award of Science laureate Michael Graetzel and the 2015 MacArthur "Genius Grant" recipient Yang Peidong. This sub-forum will spotlight the latest advancements in energy and material technology, highlighting the profound impact of material science on societal progress.

Furthermore, the Life Science Forum, held in collaboration with the Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s School of Medicine, will be jointly chaired by the 2019 Gairdner Award recipient Bruce Stillman and Chen Zhu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of the Red Cross Society of China. This segment will delve into recent medical breakthroughs and ethical considerations in the field, emphasizing the training pathways for exceptional physicians and scientists.

The Computer Science Forum, overseen by the 2015 Turing Award recipient Martin Hellman, will delve into the transformative potential and ethical implications of artificial intelligence technologies, exploring the global regulatory landscape for AI.

Additionally, this year's edition will introduce the Basic Science and Interdisciplinary Frontier Forum, which focuses on emerging fields such as RNA and green technology, offering insights into the latest research, industrial applications and future prospects.

Registration for the 2024 WLF is now open on the official website, offering attendees access to information on participating scientists, forum updates, and early-bird ticket registration.
