The Lin-gang Special Area Administration, the China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co Ltd or CATARC and the Lingang Group signed an agreement on July 18 to establish an automotive data cross-border innovation center.

The center will support the cross-border data pilot project being undertaken in the Lin-gang Special Area, which is located in East China's Shanghai.

The center will focus on regulations for cross-border data flows in the automotive sector, as well as safety assessment systems and compliance services. What's more, it will build a safety testing and certification platform for cross-border automotive data.

Additionally, the center will work on recognizing automotive data rights and data assetization – as well as developing transactions systems and fostering new business models in the automotive data sector within the Lin-gang Special Area.
