Lin-gang Special Area launches industry-education integration alliance

Lin-gang Special Area in Shanghai launched an industry-education integration innovation alliance on July 15.

This alliance seeks to improve connectivity and resource sharing by creating a comprehensive network of industry enterprises, higher education institutions, research organizations, functional platforms, and industry associations.

The Shanghai Promotion Center for Industry-Education Integration City Construction was also inaugurated that day, marking a significant step towards improving the mechanisms for promoting industry-education integration. The center will serve as a platform linking all stakeholders and assisting with the implementation of various policies.

The conference launched 11 key industry-education practice bases in Lin-gang Special Area, including collaborations between Northwestern Polytechnical University and COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co Ltd, as well as the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and VeriSilicon.

Additionally, 15 key industry-education integration projects were announced, with the goal of cultivating high-quality, application-oriented, and innovative talent for key industries.

The Shanghai Industry-Education Integration Enterprise Construction and Cultivation Policy Guide was also released. This guide is set to assist enterprises in understanding and participating in industry-education integration. Regionally, with Lin-gang Special Area at its core, the ecosystem for industry-education integration will be strengthened, driving reform and innovation across key areas of the city.

The event featured presentations on the progress of Lin-gang Special Area as a pilot city for industry-education integration, as well as with the release of the 2.0 version of policies supporting industry-education integration.

Over the past four years, the Lin-gang Special Area Administration has funded 120 industry-education integration projects, totaling 152 million yuan ($20.91 million) in funding. The new policies will provide substantial funding support for new and expanded projects, as well as innovative projects that are set to have significant impact.
