The Lin-gang Special Area – located in East China's Shanghai – held a groundbreaking ceremony for 15 key construction projects on March 27, which will cost a combined 11.2 billion yuan ($1.55 billion).

The projects – spanning municipal transportation, education and healthcare – aim to attract innovative enterprises and talent.

The main ones include the Dishi Lake School with an investment of 2.34 billion yuan, the Lin-gang branch of Pudong Hospital involving funding of  1.98 billion yuan and the construction of Leying Road in the Lin-gang emerging industrial area, costing 250.84 million yuan.

The initiatives are said to mark significant progress being made in urban development and industrial growth in the area.
