The cold chain logistics base located in the Luchao port area of the Yangshan Free Trade Zone – in the Lin-gang Special Area, in East China's Shanghai – has been selected as a national backbone cold chain logistics base.

That's according to a list announced on Oct 11 by the National Development and Reform Commission.

Under the national 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for cold chain logistics development – issued by the State Council, China's Cabinet – this new national list of cold chain logistics bases will be responsible for leading the industry in delivering area services, city services, transit and distribution, port trade and other functions.

The Luchao port cold chain logistics base aims to be an international and domestic cold chain logistics strategic link and bridgehead and a core hub of the global cross-border cold chain food trade system.

It also aims to be an Asia-Pacific region cross-border cold chain drug distribution and trading center and the leading bonded cold chain logistics port supervision innovation zone in China.
