Lin-gang's zero-carbon bay named national-level zero-carbon park
The zero-carbon bay in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area was included in the first batch of national zero-carbon parks, released by the National Development and Reform Commission on Dec 26, making it the first and only one approved in Shanghai to date.
Located in the core advanced manufacturing area of the Lin-gang Special Area's pioneering zone, the zero-carbon bay has attracted cutting-edge industries such as high-end equipment and civil aviation. With a total industrial output value of approximately 58 billion yuan ($8.29 billion) in 2024, the park has become a crucial part of Shanghai's advanced manufacturing sector.
The park hosts a large number of leading domestic and international enterprises, including Shanghai Electric, Mercedes-Benz, and Caterpillar. In addition, it houses two major computing power centers covering AI training, cloud computing, and cross-border data services, promoting the integration of AI with industry.

By leveraging Lin-gang's strengths in reform and openness, globally advanced manufacturing cluster, green application scenarios, and unique resources, the park aims to build a comprehensive zero-carbon system that combines offshore wind and solar power, source-grid-load-storage, energy conservation and carbon reduction, as well as resource recycling.
Moving forward, the park plans to focus on emerging industries, such as controlled nuclear fusion and new energy storage, further enhancing the green competitiveness of Shanghai's manufacturing sector.
