Next Modular Mobility Automotive (Shanghai), a subsidiary of Italian smart transportation technology company NExT, was inaugurated in Lin-gang Special Area. 

Headquartered in Milan, NExT is committed to redefining urban mobility with its self-developed modular, electrified, and autonomous solutions.

Its signature product is modular electric buses that can automatically link together to form a high-capacity "mobile carriage" during rush hours and decouple into standalone vehicles for flexible operation during off-peak hours. Beyond public transit, the buses can also be adapted for logistics, mobile retail, and healthcare services.

With a floor area of 86,000 square meters, NExT's project in Lin-gang involves 11 high-standard industrial buildings as well as support facilities such as international talent apartments and supermarkets.

As a trial ground for China's reform and opening-up and a hub for frontier industries, Lin-gang gives the company strong confidence in expanding into global markets, with its world-leading new energy vehicle industrial chain, first-class business environment, and comprehensive support services, said Tommaso Gecchelin, CEO and inventor of NExT.

The establishment of this R&D and testing base in Lin-gang marks a significant move in the company's global strategy and helps advance the mass production of its modular vehicles in the Asian market, said Gecchelin.
