The Lin-gang Special Area – located in East China's Shanghai city – recently rolled out a set of policies, paving the way for an optimal business environment that meets the particular needs of its resident companies.

The policies cover such areas as integrated supervision, more efficient and liquid inflows of capital, comprehensive information on the area's projects and the streamlining of various services.

According to Shen Hao, deputy chief engineer of the State Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company, a project under his charge in the area benefited significantly from its project reforms and was able to start construction 158 days earlier than scheduled.

Hong Xiaoyan, deputy director of the review and approvals center for construction projects in the Lin-gang Special Area Administration, revealed that the number of projects piloting a commitment reform there topped 60 and the area totaled over 26 square kilometers so far. This led to major cost reductions for the enterprises involved.

In addition, Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co Ltd saw benefits when it had its shipment arrive in the Yangshan Free Trade Zone, lying to the south of Shanghai Pudong International Airport. It realized integrated operations at two of its bases – one is located in the FTZ, the other elsewhere – thanks to an integrated supervision system initiated by Lin-gang.

Moving forwards, plans are for the Lin-gang Special Area to encourage more value-added telecommunications services and to assist enterprises with good credit and projects of high quality in cutting their waiting times to start operations.
