Two major forums on artificial intelligence were recently held in the Lin-gang Special Area – located in East China's Shanghai – boosting the profile of the field even more in the region.

The fifth World Artificial Intelligence Conference, or WAIC, was launched on Sept 1 and ran to Sept 3. The only night event of WAIC, the Dishui Lake AI Evening Talks, took place on Sept 1 in the Dishui Lake AI Innovation Hub in the Lin-gang Special Area.

The AI Developer Innovation Forum was also held at the same time there.

The Linux Foundation and four other well-known AI developer communities reached intentions to cooperate with the Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co Ltd and the Shanghai Harbour City Development (Group) Co Ltd at the event.

The Dishui Lake AI Evening Talks invited representatives from tech giants Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta and Unity to share cutting-edge technological updates on AI and the metaverse, as well as on AI for science and multimodality and computer vision.

In addition, six online developer summits were held simultaneously.
