Innovative customs measures issued by the Yangshan Free Trade Zone – allowing common import and export goods to pass directly without inspection – recently came in to force in Nangang port, an expansion of the phase II of the Yangshan FTZ.

The Yangshan Free Trade Zone is located in the Lin-gang Special Area in East China's Shanghai city.

As a result, unnecessary processes related to trade supervision, permits and more are to be eliminated at the port and safety and efficiency made the top priority.

Since the implementation of the innovative customs measures in the Yangshan FTZ, a raft of firms are reported to have benefited.

Shanghai Xinlin Supply Chain Management Co Ltd, located in the Yangshan FTZ, has imported over 1,000 sets of instruments since August 2020 under the innovative customs clearance mode.

General manager Ji Jingfang said it takes as little as two hours for the company to send files for customs clearances for the pickup of its goods, which greatly saves in time and money.

The Yangshan FTZ handled imports and exports worth 169.5 billion yuan ($23.67 billion) from January to October, up 59.4 percent year-on-year. The number of inbound and outbound goods carrying out customs clearances under the new procedure increased 3.7 times year-on-year.
