New livestreaming base set up in Yangshan bonded zone
A livestreaming base for cross-border e-commerce was launched in the Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area on Oct 19.
The base will serve as an important platform for introducing Chinese products to Southeast Asian markets that are a part of the Belt and Road Initiative, said local authorities.
Mengxiang.com, a Shanghai-based supply chain solutions provider, is the first company to set up operations in the livestreaming base. It has so far built an incubator featuring six large livestreaming studios at the base. More than 100 key opinion leaders from Southeast Asia will be working at the incubator by the end of this year.
Founded in 2015, Mengxiang has teamed up with more than 20,000 Chinese brands to date. Tapping the Southeast Asian markets via the livestreaming channel will help more domestic products reach overseas customers, said the company's management team.
Policies facilitating cross-border data flow and favorable employment measures for foreigners introduced in the Lin-gang Special Area, where the Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone is located, have been conducive to the development of the livestreaming base, said local authorities of Lin-gang Special Area.
In July, the Shanghai Municipal Government introduced an action plan to promote the high-quality development of cross-border e-commerce (2023-25). According to the plan, the city will roll out favorable customs, tax and foreign exchange policies to encourage cross-border e-commerce industry leaders to set up their regional headquarters in Shanghai.
