The Lin-gang R&D and manufacturing center for advanced copper interconnection equipment – developed by Shanghai Xinxinxianglian Semiconductor Technology Co Ltd – started construction on Feb 6 in the Lin-gang Special Area in East China's Shanghai.

The new center is to be located in the Lin-gang park of the Shanghai Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone.

Xinxinxianglian Semiconductor Technology Co is being financed by Shanghai Sinyang, Systech Semiconductor and Shenzhen Yuanzhi Spark Private Equity Investment Fund Co Ltd.

The company is a core supplier of semiconductors high-end manufacturing equipment and technology. It focuses on the development of the former Damascus metal interconnecting process.

It aims to fill a gap in domestic advanced semiconductors electroplating equipment and improve the supply chain for domestic semiconductors equipment.

The Lin-gang park of Shanghai Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone is an important part of Oriental IC Port in the Lin-gang Special Area. It has attracted leading enterprises in semiconductors equipment and semiconductor materials to base themselves there.

The Xinxinxianglian project will focus on the R&D and manufacturing of advanced copper interconnections, which is an indispensable process in the production and manufacturing of IC. The project is expected to further consolidate the IC industry supply chain in the park.

To date, Lin-gang has attracted more than 220 IC enterprises, with a total projected investment of more than 220 billion yuan ($32.56 billion).
