The Lin-gang Special Area Administration signed an agreement with AVIC Maikai (Shanghai) Infrared Technology Co Ltd on Sept 8 for the group to build a new generation compound semiconductor development center in the special area, based in East China's Shanghai city.

Under the agreement, the company will reportedly set up a world-class infrared detector research and development facility in Lin-gang.

AVIC Maikai (Shanghai) Infrared Technology Co Ltd – which was established in July, 2021 – is mainly engaged in the R&D of infrared detectors and the production and processing of optical components.

It is understood to have the leading capacity in terms of domestic antimonide detector output and development.
