Smart road tested in Lin-gang Special Area
New energy cars are currently being powered by charging piles equipped with intelligent monitoring devices along a section from the West Huanhu Road (No 2) to Haigang Avenue – both located in the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, in East China's Shanghai.

As a model section of the first phase of Lin-gang's Intelligent Connected Cloud Control Platform and also being the first of its kind in the area, it has met the requisite conditions for testing.
With the help of the cloud control platform, a car-to-road coordination system was established – enabling information sharing and interacting and realizing key functions such as video analysis, traffic forecasts and alerts.
In addition, the in-car screen allows real time displays of information – including potential dangers, traffic lights and speed limit signs.
"The information is generated through the collaboration of roadside perceptions and communications equipment and vehicle-end devices," said a manager from the company responsible for the construction of the special area's infrastructure.
The traffic at the road intersections is complex, so perception and communications equipment transmit real-time information from a larger range to the vehicle.
This is done through a cloud control platform, allowing auto-driving vehicles to perceive and smoothly pass through intersections or abnormal sections in advance, the manager explained.
The cloud control platform is in turn connected to the database of public security and traffic departments. This helps the traffic management department better regulate and manage vehicles and drives the construction of an intelligent traffic network forwards.
