Policies for renting talent apartments in Lin-gang
The Lin-gang Special Area – located in East China's Shanghai city – has built up a number of talent apartments to reduce the pressure on its workforce of paying rent. It recently issued several policies for qualified people to apply for the apartments.
These are in effect from July 1, 2022 to Dec 31, 2025.
Lin-gang's talent apartments differ from those in the market, in that they are subsidized, making them cheaper.
Under the latest rules issued by Lin-gang Special Area Investment Promotion Service Center, those who have not – or whose family has not – applied under the affordable housing policies, or who have no houses in the Lin-gang industry and city integration zone, can apply for the apartments.
In the above case, people meeting any of the following requirements can apply to rent talent apartments in Lin-gang – those who have obtained a bachelor's degree or above, those who hold an intermediate professional title, or those who have Level 3 national vocational qualifications (senior worker) and higher certificates.
Both employers and employees can make an application by logging onto Lin-gang's service system and the required materials can be found there.
The total time limit is three years and the lease on the apartment should be signed and renewed annually. For those who cannot move into a house they have bought, a renewal contract for an apartment can be extended by one year at most.
For those who are transferred or whose employment contract is terminated, the apartments management should be promptly informed and the tenants shall move out within three months.
