Shanghai Nan'gang Wharf sets efficiency record
The Shanghai Nan'gang Wharf recently handled 1,922 inbound and outbound vehicles within 36 hours, setting a new efficiency record for its port distribution service.
Thanks to the innovative clearance policy of the Yangshan Free Trade Zone in Lin-gang Special Area, enterprises can pick up and ship goods directly – this convenient measure improves the efficiency of the transit shipment and export of imported vehicles.
As the bonded storage of commercial vehicles business prospers in the Yangshan FTZ, more roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) ships waiting for imported and exported cars have been gathered in the Nan'gang Wharf.
At the same time, the wide coverage of shipping routes and some of these routes' "point-to-point" mode make the export of cars from Nan'gang Wharf more convenient and economical. For carmakers, their logistics efficiency can be improved while ship operators can better utilize their shipping space.
Statistics showed that during the January-September period, the Yangshan Border Inspection Station handled over 90 inbound and outbound ro-ro ships, an increase of 67.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
Imported cars pass through Nan'gang before they are sold overseas, and this demonstrates Shanghai Port's status as a hub in global automobile resource allocation and an important node in the Belt and Road Initiative.
