The Lingang large goods trading platform and auto industry firm China Jing'an Co Ltd signed a strategic agreement on Sept 14 to build up Shanghai's Nan'gang Port in East China as the largest vehicle distribution center and storage center in the region.

Under the new agreement, the Jing'an Group will establish a supply chain subsidiary for luxury German auto maker BMW in the Lin-gang Special Area in Shanghai and offer services for top carmakers, such as BMW Brilliance Automotive.

Beijing-based China Jing'an Group provides one-stop intelligent supply chain platform services for carmakers. It is engaged in cargo, road transportation, storage management and supply chain finance.

The signatories will work together to expand the local new energy industry, high-end remanufacturing, imports and exports of vehicles and spare parts.

Nan'gang Port, which provides transport facilities for heavy components and maritime shipping, is the only multipurpose and comprehensive public port in southeastern Shanghai. It is also the Lin-gang Special Area's only international port directly connected by land to the Yangshan Free Trade Zone.

The Lingang Large goods trading platform developed by Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co Ltd – or the Lingang Group, which is one of the main developers of the Lin-gang Special Area – is charge of the operations of Nan'gang Port.
